Our empowerment model

Our empowerment process called Stellar Evolution (process of birth and development of stars) is designed with stages to fit the learning needs of each scholar at a given stage. Each stage in our empowerment process has specific expectations and indicators that have to be fulfilled before a scholar can move to the next stage which ensures a holistic development of innovation leaders and change makers.

Core Track Areas

Physical Sciences: Concerned with the study of non-living natural objects, including physics, chemistry, astronomy, and related subjects.

Life Sciences: The scientific study of organisms – such as microorganisms, plants, and animals including human beings. Through this, some scholars can study fields of medicine.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT): Technologies that provide access to information through telecommunications and includes the Internet, wireless networks, phones, computers and other communication mediums.

Who is the ideal scholar?

No need for academic qualifications. Are you passionate about sciences and technology? Do you have the drive and commitment to make your own tech innovation/invention? Can you speak basic English? If you answer yes to the above, then you are the right person.

Secondary Schools Sayans Competition

We conduct themed Africa wide Sayans fair competitions year round. Schools participate and compete through within school, regional and national competitions and the winners from the national competitions compete in the Africa Sayans competitions.

To compete, a school needs to set up a Sayans club and then register. The school then has to organize a within school competitions where two winners are chosen to compete in the regional competitions and two from the regional winners compete in the national competitions two country winners compete in the Africa competitions.

To participate, each school team must have 3-5 students who design a project to solve the challenge for the year.

Evaluation criteria

  • Innovation – teams should exhibit high level of creativity and innovation and distinctly show their uniqueness

  • Feasibility – the project should easily be implemented. An added advantage is for projects that utilize locally available resources.

  • Teams should be made up of 3-5 students who are fully engaged in the project.

Awards

The regional winners each gets $300 to use to improve their projects.

The country winners each gets $1000

The Africa overall winners get $5000, mentorship to develop actual technology businesses.
