Every day, technology is becoming more inexpensive. The Raspberry Pi is a microcomputer that has the capability of being used as a $35 desktop PC. With the Raspberry Pi, computers become greatly accessible and allow an increasing number of people to access the limitless amount of resources and information found on the internet. Sayans seeks to give computer training and programming using Python and Scratch to secondary school students and rural communities using Sayans Computer.

Custom designed Sayans educational computer

The Sayans Computer is one of our scholar projects. It is designed and built to meet many practical and social considerations for sustainable use within Ugandan and African rural communities. The system is affordable, powered by Raspberry Pi, and contains a collection of open source educational resources. Battery power is provided, and the computer's compact size allows for transportation and use within remote areas. The repairs of this system are also simplified, as the majority of individual components can be found readily within Uganda.
